Destination - Key West, FL with Lauren and Phil

I can't believe that my first 7 photoshoots this year were all travel and destination weddings! Literally from British Columbia to Mexico and almost everything in between. Lauren and Phil's wedding is one of my all time favorites! They brought me out to Key West, Florida for one gorgeous weekend filled with exploring, adventures, alligators, swamps and of course one hell of a wedding. It may have been 90 degrees out, but we didn't let that stop us from getting some incredible portraits throughout Key West.

Whenever I'm traveling for weddings I always try and do something fun to check out the local scenery. For Lauren and Phil's wedding I wanted to finally see Everglades National Park and Big Cypress National Preserve but I only had a short window of time to make it happen. So after I wrapped up their wedding I got about 2 hours of sleep and woke up at 2:30am and drove straight to the Everglades to catch sunrise. After that craziness I went out to Big Cypress to hike through some swamp land and find some alligators to photograph. See the end of the blog post to check out the photos!

Destination Wedding - Puerto Vallarta

I say this all the time, I need to blog more! I've had so many incredible weddings this year, but it's harder and harder to find the time to actually post them. Ever since we moved to Seattle all my spare time is spent hiking all over the Pacific Northwest and on DIY projects on our new house. Not that I'm complaining, I absolutely love it! But seriously these weddings were so much fun and I'm dying to show them off. Hopefully I can sit still long enough to get more of these published.

Enough rambling, you have to check out Dulce and Tom's wedding from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico! Well that's where we stayed for the week, but the ceremony and reception were an hour boat ride away on the secluded Caletas Beach. This wedding has everything! White sand beaches, fire dancers, scuba diving, and tons of love and laughter.

Ashley and Alex - Oregon Coast Engagement

There's so much I love about Ashley and Alex's engagement session that I don't even know where to start! This was simply the perfect shoot in every way. Julia and I drove down to Cape Kiwanda on the coast of Oregon. We spent the whole day walking the beach with our dog Lily and hiking around. Then we grabbed some burgers and laid out on the beach until it was photoshoot time.

As soon as Ashley and Alex arrived the sun was getting into that perfect spot. The one where you know that every photo is going to turn out just right. That every inch of the landscape is going to glow. The rest of the shoot the light only got better and better. It doesn't just take the right light in the right place to create meaningful photographs. Ashley and Alex had way of connecting in front of the camera that worked so well. See everything below!

New Orleans - Brian and Krista

The first wedding of 2016 could not have been any better! Brian and Krista brought me out to the French Quarter in New Orleans for their incredible destination wedding. We started with their ceremony in Louis Armstrong Park, then had a brass band parade the entire wedding over to their gallery in the heart of the French Quarter. Seriously it's hard to not have fun when there's cheering crowds lining the streets the entire walk between the ceremony and the reception and beads were flying everywhere. We didn't end the night when the reception was over! We went bar hopping on Bourbon Street until I was too tired to stand and I graciously made my way to the nearest po'boy stand before heading back to the hotel.
