This is a truly interesting Story, not only is it Chicago's first LGBTQ senior housing center, it's actually a Midwest first! On top of all of that it's being built into the old police station at 3600 N Halsted in Lakeview. I had the honor of not only photographing the groundbreaking of the project but also the first photos of the interior in the midsts of the reconstruction. The groundbreaking was really a touching event. There were plenty of Chicago politicians , but more importantly there were members of the community who spoke about how much this project means to them and the growing support of the LGBTQ community in Chicago. I can't say enough about how proud I am of Chicago for taking a step in the right direction for equality. I really hope that gay marriage is right around the corner for this state.
